Rather than utilizing ground troops for another round of fighting on Lebanese soil where the projected results are questionable, the IDF needs to take the battle to Iran. The IAF should launch a wide array of assaults against military, industrial, petroleum & communication targets throughout Iran. Special Forces should strike strategic locations in Tehran, Qom & Tabriz in order to humiliate the Mullahs. The Mossad. CIA & MI6 should foment large student demonstrations & undertake a series of targeted assassinations against leading political, military & religious figures. The theocrats will lose power prior to next summer. Hezbollah will then become the next victim.

True enough that attacking Iran is necessary, but it won’t solve the problem of returning the northern residents to their homes.

Also, sadly, Biden has sent all his aircraft carriers to the mideast to make sure we don’t do that.

The northern residents can't return until Iran is defanged.

The strike against Iran needs to be implemented while Biden is a lame duck & prior to the possible election of Harris.

Could be you are right about your second point but until Hezbollah is not in anti tank distance of metula, no one is going back.

Even regime change in iran wont end hezbollah short term. It is certainly a pre condition for the ultimate defeat of hezbollah though.

Do you think Iran is a proxy itself - of Russia (and China)?

Without them behind Iran, would it be much of a threat to Israel?

These are honest questions. I don't know the answers to them. You know more about essential Iranian capabilities than I do.

i think Iran is the minor partner in the Axis. But they went about their business in expanded global terror/jihad and their race to a nuclear weapon without that Axis. They were encouraged by the Obama administration and the Western European "powers" and Russia and China took them under their wing rather late.

So without them, Iran is still a major threat to Israel because they are a revolutionary power who wants to rid the mideast of Israel and any other western power.

The part the Obama Admin (& by extension Biden/Harris) plays in this sickens me but I don't think they'd be much w/out Russia. Israel would be able to handle an Iran w/out Russia behind it. With Russia Iran is a different story.

The whole Russian presence in Syria is difficult to figure out. Russia and Iran are clearly allies in Syria - but they are rivals, too.

I think Israel can handle Iran now. But … who knows ?

Ira, this was important to get down for posterity. But it is definitely too late to roll-back the big battle heading our way.
