"This seems to be an illness of the west in general where the elite can’t manage to understand anything about the people they are supposed to serve."

Ain't THAT the truth.

I was going to write something like "good riddance" but then I read your opening line, oh sorry, I just did.

YIL that Yoav Gallant spent two years in Alaska as a lumberjack, after finishing his service.

You could have knocked me over with a mattress of feathers. Awesome!

Well... i wrote he is a good man - but he is definitely not a smart man or a smart politician. All of the sudden he leaves the government and decides the war should end. My guess ... the Biden Admin told him the war has to end or Trump will win - and the idiots in Israel's opposition fear anything that is good for the Israeli right - even if its good for Israel in general. This is probably the first time in history where someone left a national unity government in the middle of a war

It's depressing to think he rose so high in Israel's mil-sec establishment. But not surprising...

Yes, I've noticed that Israel's opposition specializes in cutting off their noses to spite their faces. At the beginning of this war, one of the Kaplan St honchos, Ran Harnevo, came to my attention. I saw one of his videos which was good. Then I saw another, and it was terrible. It began with a long thing about Bibi's friendship with Viktor Orban, as if that was something terrible. Then I saw that he had an anti-Orban thing as his pinned tweet. (Now changed.) I thought, "doesn't this jerk know that Hungary is one of the few countries in Europe where Jews are living openly and freely as Jews? What's wrong with protecting your country from an onslaught of Muslim 'refugees'? I even tweeted this to him a few times but he ignored me.

They live in a dream world.

I'm beginning to like Gallant. Anyone who becomes a lumberjack in Alaska after serving in the IDF is OK by me. Interesting stuff going on underneath that impassive exterior.

Not a big fan of Galant, lumberjack or not.

He is a rubber stamp for the Army. Provides no leadership there.

As for Israel's opposition - they want so much to be Western Europe - sadly, Europe is becoming so much like the middle east. But they don't want to see it.

Much like a lot of America's ignorant elite - they want to be citizens of the world.
