How did you expect that a conventional war was going to destroy Hamas? Has the example of any number of other counter-insurgency wars (asymmetrical war, whatever you want to call it) convinced you of their futility?

Civil wars end when one side wins. Until then the Israeli cold civil war will continue indefinitely.

That is the difference between a hot and cold

Civil war. Both of the sides can lose and toe country and its people can win.

It is “cold” since the more apocalyptic side- in this case the left- does not have enough support to make it hot.

If you look at this as a zero sum game then the country will not continue to exist.

It's as much a zero sum game as the conflict with the arabs is, which is why Kaplan made it clear they would rather the country burn than not rule it.

I don't know. I'm waiting till the campaigning will begin and then I will examine closely those putting themselves up for election
