The same people who are still in shock and horrified about Hiroshima and Nagasaki are happy for Iran to have nuclear weapons. They just hate the west. That’s the only consistency.

So true. The US as a superpower is gone and the world knows it!

And so unnecessary.

President Clinton should rank as the worst post WW II foreign policy president bar none having squandered a golden opportunity during his presidency to impose Pax Americana across the entire globe. All of the chess pieces were in place for him as 1) Iraq had recently been militarily defeated, yet remained a counter weight to Iran in the Persian Gulf keeping them somewhat in check. 2)Russia was attempting to find its way after the fall of the Soviet Union & was no threat to the US. 3)China was not yet an economic superpower. Clinton's major mistakes were weakness towards Al Qaeda allowing it to metastasize & launch 9/11, going to war with Serbia which displayed Occidental weakness (& foolishness) to the Islamic world & offering Arafat nearly everything that he desired which prevents any future Palestinian leader from accepting a deal that offers anything less. Historians of American foreign policy will treat Clinton harshly.

Clinton blew it for sure. But it would have taken a true farsighted statesman to do the right thing. They don't come around too often.

But I would have to say that Biden has taken the mantle for the worst FP president ever. And Obama set the table for him.

My opinion is that the Biden administration sincerely believes that if Israel negotiates with Hamas and accepts a Palestinian state there will be peace in the Middle East. This is partly motivated by sheer ignorance, by hatred of Israel as an agent of white colonialism, and partly by cowardice, and fear of confronting a real crisis. However, we cannot disregard the presence of actual treason, influenced maybe even by Chinese cash. They would much rather be dealing with transgender issues and peaceful protests at abortion clinics.

I think the Left basically accepts all anti-Western arguments as true - peace is not as important as punishing those who support the Western way of life.

As for Chinese money? How about Qatari money? That is more likely.

About Qatari money, why not? There has been an influx of Arab oil money into higher education, with predictable results.. However, I would guess that the Chinese have broader global aspirations than the Qataris, and would not object to a Middle East free from American influence. This could lead to proxy struggles between Russia and China in the region, as was the case in SE Asia when Russia backed the Vietnamese and China the Cambodians - but that is highly speculative.

About the left, Marx as you know was deeply hostile to Judaism, and so were some of the French "Enlightenment" thinkers even when there was no state of Israel. They were hostile to the idea of a God who laid down rules for us to obey - and I think there is a spiritual element to these struggles today. It is because God has brought and is bringing the Jews back to the land that the forces of Satan are opposed - but these forces of darkness have their human logic and arguments (racism, colonialism, genocide, apartheid).

Who knows, maybe if a war with Hezbollah proves to be too destructive the Israelis might decide to permanently terminate the entire Iranian petroleum industry.

The goal is to find enemies who can balance allies. Incredible.
