"The Kurds, for example ought to be able to have control at least of Iraqi and Syrian Kurdish areas to form a Kurdistan." Sounds fine to me. But, according to David Goldman anyway, the Turks would never let this happen.

And he is correct. If there are one people in the world who deserve a state but will never get one it is the Kurds. Kurdistan spans four countries - Turkey, Iraq, Iran and Syria.

Honest question: how was Hezbollah re-arming?

Their supply lines thru Syria were destroyed, so I thought. The ones in Syria scrammed back to Lebanon and it was all downhill for Assad from there. The ease with which HTS took over regime cities was a shock to all.

Until the ouster of Assad Iran was re-arming them via Syria. Often, Iranian supply planes would land at Russian air bases. Also, in the Kalmon Mountains bordering Syria and Lebanon they have discovered an extensive tunnel network.

I meant after the ceasefire & after Hezbollah was decimated by Israel in Operation Grim Beeper. I try to get info about this but it's hard. My understanding is that at some point (I don't know when) Hezbollah in Syria scooted back to Lebanon. Plus their supply lines were all screwed up. This directly led to HTS's successes, which were as much a surprise to them as it was to anyone.

The entire sequence is confusing to me. But maybe no one really knows.

Plus there’s a lot of killing going on in the Syrian parts, but who cares that Muslims kill Muslims? Confession: I really don’t lose sleep over it. What’s the UN’s excuse?
