Related to Jim McCraigh's comment below, one of the reason for these problems is that the perpetrators are evil. This evil includes a powerful tendency to do the opposite of what is right, due to ignorance of and even hostility toward anything good and decent.
Agree with you -except the "ignorance" part - they know exactly what they are doing. The alleged ignorance is willful and no amount of education will change that.
That becomes a philosophical question. Maybe Plato discussed it, I don't remember. But the question is: Evil doers have a false idea of what is good. If they knew what The Good was, they would prefer it. So it is a question of ignorance. But the Christian Bible does speak of willful ignorance, and an active hatred of what is good, and of sin and evil in the heart. So they take pleasure in evil.
The leaders of the "west" hate Israel because they hate God... Israel will prevail because it has been foretold. God will crush those who come against Israel. Numbers 24:9 reads, "The nation is like a mighty lion; When it is sleeping, no one dares wake it. Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed, And whoever curses Israel will be cursed.”
I’m an American (originally from New York city, currently living in South Florida) and have many Democrat and Republican friends. (I’m an Independent myself.). I can tell you this: I never hear the Democrats speaking about Obama anymore. The only people I hear saying that the Democrats are following Obama’s lead are the Republicans.
As you know, the United States is about to elect a new president. I have voted in every election since 1968. I will not be voting in this one. The reason is, I can’t trust Kamala to do the right thing by Israel, and I don’t trust Trump, full stop. Kamala has been saying the right things to her Jewish audience while also telling the Muslims in Michigan what they want to hear. As a result, I have no idea what she’s going to do. As far as Trump is concerned, you can’t trust a thing that comes out of his mouth. Granted, he’s done some great things for Israel in the past, but knowing him since he was a New York playboy, I can tell you for certain that he would throw Israel under the bus if it worked to his slightest advantage. As it is, he’s put a target on the back of Jewish Americans by saying that if he loses the election, it will be the fault of the Jews. He has also engaged in many anti-Semitic tropes, even if he doesn’t realize the harm he is causing, by telling American Jews that they should be loyal to Israel, and if they don’t vote for him, they are not being loyal to Israel.
I keep wondering if this is not a similar situation to when Israel attacked the Iraqi nuclear program; they were vilified in the and in the UN, but congratulated behind closed doors.
I found your article interesting but a little confusing. Obama has been out of office since 2016. Where is the current benefit to Western powers in keeping Hizballah in power? I don’t have the answer, but I don’t think think your article does either unless I missed something.
Obama has been out of office but his FP is still with us in the Biden-Harris administration. His influence is very strong on American FP. My conjecture is that the West , following Obama, wants to keep Israel contained and the only way to do that is to leave in place a force or forces that can eventually force Israel to accede to a Palestinian State.
There is an obsession with a Palestinian State that is not present with the Kurds, the Basques, the Catalans and many other "stateless" peoples.
It is my feeling that to this group, Israel is the obstacle to a stability that will only come with an Israeli surrender. My feeling and that of many others is that it would lead to greater instability.
I could be wrong. But it is obvious to me that they don't want Hezbollah gone and don't want Israel to destroy Iran's nuclear program. Why? I am open to other answers, but to me this sounds most logical.
Obama is quite likely a Shiite based on his father’s original faith and his upbringing in Indonesia, despite the proliferation of denial “fact checks”. Obama also wasn’t just balancing Israel. He’s balancing Saudi Arabia and the Sunni Gulf States as well. The other reason he favors Iran is because he’s a Marxist and the current crop of Islamist terrorists are originally protoges of the Soviets and are aligned with the Russians, Chinese, and North Koreans and the rest of the Axis of Feeble.
Why, indeed, is the West so intent on saving Iran? It's hard to find someone writing intelligently about geopolitics without spewing hatred against Jews. As a follower of Jesus and a strong supporter of Israel, we need all the voices out there we can to counterbalance that hate. Glad to have found you.
I've long been baffled by the coddling of Iran - both by the US & their Western allies and to a certain extent, by Israel. The "War Between the Wars", where for years, Israel has pummeled Iranian military assets with hardly any meaningful Iranian military response, has shown they're a military paper tiger. Yet, until now, both the West & Israel have refrained from striking Iran itself. It was as if the Iranians were on a military par with Russia or North Korea.
With respect to Hezbollah, I do believe that the US & their Western allies (even France) wish to see Hezbollah crushed. However, there remains this constant fear of a broader war that will suck their Western armies into bloody Middle Eastern combat. They all wish to kick the can down the road & let their successors have to make the real difficult military decisions. Fecklessness has won out over reason. The problem is Israel, after having been terribly bloodied on 10/7, isn't willing to kick the can down the road any further.

Balance.
