I am very interested in your reaction to this article about the events of Oct. 7th: https://postkahanism.substack.com/p/making-omelettes-breaking-eggs

Not that I expect a lengthy analysis, though if you write one it will be read. Even a brief "possible . . . very possible . . . completely impossible" would be welcome.

Some of the points he makes are true and some are totally false. It is true that the Air Force was very, very late but it is not true that on-call infantry battalions did not arrive. I know of one that arrived at Kisufim junction by 7:30 - true enough had they been warned at 4am they would have been there at 5am.

The main cause of the failure was not just the belief that Hamas was deterred. It is much more than that. The entire General Staff, from Ehud Barak's time until October 7 was convinced that there will be no more large wars and a small, smart army will suffice. All data that pointed otherwise was interpreted away.

There was no treason by the General Staff or the Chief of the General Staff - there was a willful blindness.
