A New Symbol of Palestinian “Success”

Today’s funeral of Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas, broadcast on TV with a split screen featuring the murdered family on one side and the mourners on the other, was another in a long line of funerals of children and mothers, as symbols of the “successes and accomplishments” of the Palestinian cause. The “resistance” as their supporters in the west like to fashion themselves, and fashion it is, has for years depended on these “symbols”.

For the past few years it has been two men raising their bloody hands with looks of joy and excitement on their faces. Before that it was the grisly faced Yassir Arafat, also with a smile and a gun at his side, speaking at the UN. It has been the frames of blown up buses, shattered glasses from a seder, a family slaughtered in their beds. It has been a terrorist holding a four year old girl upside down, smashing her head on a rock.

It was hang gliders dropping bombs on innocent partygoers and the voices of young men bragging to their mothers how many Jews they just killed. It is of masked men, holding weapons while humiliating defenseless, sometimes dead people.

But now, there is a new symbol of the Palestinian “success” and their fight for “dignity “– and that is the picture of two redheaded children. These two children represent what the Palestinian movement has “accomplished” over the last 60 years.

They have a picture of two redheaded children to look at when they want to see what they and their leaders have accomplished. We hope they show this to the world, because these two children, no longer alive, are now what the Palestinian movement is. When one supports this so-called “liberation movement for the dignity of the Palestinian people”, one needs only to look at these two children to see what they are supporting.

Dignity indeed.
